JK. I don’t believe in conspiracy because our leaders are far too stupid and petty to conspire in secret.
Housing costs a fortune because of bad housing policy, bro.
Well that and relentless federal spending if you know what I’m saying.
There are a lot of discussions on this topic but I think it’s actually pretty simple:
The culprit is the idea density is better than sprawl.
Density brings bureaucracy with it.
Bureaucracy in America is ALWAYS eventually controlled by Progressives.
Progressive policies make housing more expensive in dense areas so people move to less dense areas where the cycle repeats.
The World Wants Your House
Individuals are competing with every buyer in the world for a limited resource.
For example, there’s only one Malibu, California.
Ultra mega super rich individuals and corporations know there will always be luxury buyers so they overpay then the money waterfall begins and now homes in Eagle, Idaho are 5x what they were a decade ago.
Now Eagle’s density is increasing…leading to more bureaucracy.
Inflation Honorable Mention
Are houses more expensive or is your money worth less?
TLDR - it’s both.
The Solution?
New cities with new ownership and infrastructure models.
