In another hilarious turn of the knife against the MAHA movement the Trump administration held a press conference to tell us the “cause” of increased autism rates.
Is it vaccines?
Mercury?
Floride?
Cell tower radiation?
Killer f-in bees?
Pelosi? Obama?
Insider trading?
Was it Trump himself in some sort of ultra MAGA super duper fascist just like Hitler-Putin plot twist?
Nope.
Turns out it’s an over-the-counter pain medication taken during pregnancy.
I mean, it’s probably not. But thanks a ton.
The Problem with RFK, Jr. and the MAHA Movement
I know a bunch of MAHA Moms.
They love their kids and make interesting snacks.
Here’s the problem, much like the Epstein Files, a not insignificant percentage of the movement lives in Conspiracy Town.
Thus, RFK, Jr. feels compelled to offer a solution other than, “yeah we started giving schools and doctors money to work with autistic kids and, amazingly, the number of autistic kids increased.”
Autism is a very real. Some kids have it.
Mental health issues are real. Some kids have them.
When you incentivize organizations to work with autism, mental health or whatever the organization will find more of it.
They might even create more of it accidentally on purpose.
Not because they are all evil but because this is how systems, especially bureaucratic systems, work.
“We need money for mental health professionals in schools” is a very compelling argument.
Now apply the same logic to autism or school lunch programs or things health insurance is mandated to cover.
